About the author
Our Marathon Training Plan has been created by Sport Walk's founder - Roger Burlinson, an experienced Sport Walker with significant marathon and ultramarathon challenge experience.
Roger's walked ultramarathons non-stop up to 100 miles in length and his personal best marathon time (off road) is under six hours. Roger would mostly walk the marathon distance in training for ultramarathons but he's increasingly scoping dedicated marathon challenges given their appeal and potential.
Roger has crafted this training plan from his own training principles and from his experience and work as a Sport Walking coach - helping Sport Walkers of all abilities to prepare for a marathon or ultramarathon challenge.
