Pre-Course Health Advice

This course is designed to introduce you to the world of Sport Walking, which is an energetic form of walking performed for fitness, challenge or adventure. Sport Walking does include a sustained amount of physical activity and training at a medium intensity, with some high intensity bursts. It involves walking fast with a raised heart rate and pushing yourself harder than you might otherwise have done.

Because of this, it is strongly recommend that you have a full physical health check with your doctor, if you’re new to this sort of physical activity or haven't worked hard with a raised heart rate for some time, before you start to adopt any of the advice in this course.

All the information provided in this course is purely for guidance and to explain what Sport Walking is, what it can offer and how Sport Walkers conduct their activities. There is no compulsion to participate physically in any way and the decision as to whether to take up Sport Walking or to perform any of the suggested training sessions or workouts is solely down to the student.
